I have being in the women fitness circle for some time and I have seen them all, I have met the women that love to do it alone as they see exercise as a chance to be alone, let lose and meditate.

I have also seen women that love to exercise in groups and I have seen the group that feel better if they exercise with a tutor or as we call them trainers.

Lately, I have been getting questions around these lines because people are wondering if a personal trainer helps hasten the process. Do they know things a lay man don’t and seriously are they worth the price tag?

Personally I have always viewed it from another angle, I have always thought you need to satisfy some requirements before you get a personal trainer and I will list them here.

I will also play the devil’s advocate and show you why you don’t need one, then I will go one further and list the advantages of a good personal trainer.

YOU NEED A PERSONAL TRAINER IF:

YOU CAN AFFORD THEM-

You are probably already paying for gym membership so if your purse still allows you to spend more then you can get a personal trainer and work out with him or her.

On the devil’s advocate side, it is obvious you don’t need one if you can’t afford them.

YOU PREFER LEARNING FROM A TUTOR-

I have met people who learnt the most important and financial aiding lessons of their lives from watching YouTube videos and teaching themselves till they got perfect.

That might not work for you because you prefer the human touch; if that is you then you need to get a trainer who will be down there in the trenches with you.

If you are the type that likes to go through it alone then the personal trainer will just be in your way and might even end up destroying your love for the gym.

YOU NEED EXTERNAL MOTIVATION-

Personal trainers are sometimes like life coaches only this time they deal mainly with the body.

If you are someone that is not great at self motivation then having a personal trainer is the way to go.

The truth is exercises, especially for beginners, might be overwhelming and you might get to a point where you want to quit and just let go.

It isn’t just the weight lifting, the diet change and the discipline might be a huge weight sometimes for beginners. So you might need someone constantly telling you not to give up because the reward is far more than the pain.

On the other hand if you are a self motivating machine then you don’t need all that, all you have to do is push yourself till you reach your goals of having a body of your dreams.

YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT GETTING INFORMATION-

The truth is a huge chunk of what a personal trainer will tell you is on the internet and there are hundreds or even thousands of videos that will show you all you need to know.

You could even go ahead and spend a little money on courses designed to get you where you want to be and there in an e-book or video course will be all what your trainer knows minus the human touch, though.

If on the other hand you can search for information, then save your money and be your own trainer.

YOU WANT FAST RESULT-

Now I know I just showed you that most of the information a personal trainer will show you is in a course or video somewhere on the internet but there is a catch.

If you find a really good trainer probably one used by your favourite celebrity or one that works with a sport team there is a chance that the trainer knows the latest and most efficient training regimen that hastens results.

That is why a celebrity can give birth (which means added weight) but bounce back into shape in few months because of the trainers. But I must warn that these trainers are expensive though and will only cater to a certain cadre of clientele.

YOU ARE GETTING TOO COMFORTABLE-

Have you being exercising for some time and its beginning to feel like the challenging part is gone and you want to kick it up a notch again then you need a trainer.

A trainer is most likely far ahead of you so he or she can bring you up to speed and challenge you which is exactly what you need.

If you are doing great and you are still enjoying the challenge, then you don’t need a trainer because you are great on your own.

This write up might seem like I have rained on many trainers parade. So I will bring it back and show you exactly why they are stand up guys.

ADVANTAGES OF PERSONAL TRAINERS

THEY EDUCATE YOU ON SPECIFICS-

We don’t all have the same exercise goals, for instance I might be trying to bulk up a bit while you are trying to just increase your buttocks.

A good trainer knows the exact requirements for those and he or she can show you exactly how to go about that in ways few books will teach you.

WE LEARN FASTEST THROUGH INTERACTIVE LEARNING-

Interactive learning is the best form of learning so having a trainer helps you learn faster and is a huge source of inspiration.

This happens because right there beside you is someone that has done what you are about to do, so you feel fired up and know it is possible.

THEY HELP YOU SET REALISTIC GOALS-

You won’t be able to do it all in a day week or month so you need goals to break it down.

Who better to help you with that than a trainer who has seen it all?

THEY HOLD YOU TO YOUR WORD-

Do you tell yourself that I will wake up early to go for a run tomorrow only to sleep through the alarm?

With a trainer you will have someone there to make you do what you are supposed to do.
